“Jaded” is a mid-tempo country duet by Koe Wetzel featuring Ella Langley, released August 7, 2026. The song examines how past heartbreak leaves two people emotionally guarded, asking: “How’d you get so jaded?” Co-written by Wetzel, Langley, Jordan Schmidt, and ERNEST, it marks their second collaboration after their gold-certified duet “That’s Why We Fight.”

The single arrives at a high point for both performers. Langley is in the middle of a record-breaking year that includes a No. 1 album and a historic chart run, while Wetzel continues to build on the release of his album The Night Champion and an international tour. The track is available on all major streaming platforms through Columbia Records.

    What “Jaded” Is About

The song opens with Wetzel addressing a love interest who is holding back. He admits he likes that she is “damaged just like me,” setting the tone for a conversation about shared emotional scars. Rather than assigning blame, the lyrics focus on understanding where the hurt originated.

    The pre-chorus asks directly:

“Who broke your heart, who dropped the ball / Who had the world and lost it all / Made you hurt, made you cry / Just tell me tonight.”

The chorus then drives the title question home:

“How’d you get so jaded / Who made you like this / Who gave you these problems even I can’t seem to fix / How’d you get so lonely / How’d you get so cold / I don’t wanna hurt you, baby, I just wanna know / How’d you get so jaded.”

Later verses dig into the defenses people build after repeated letdowns: “Who tore you down and made you go and put your walls up / Who ran around / Who lied and told you that you don’t deserve your wings.” The word “jaded” here refers to the numbness that follows too much disappointment. Both singers acknowledge their shared damage without claiming they can fix it.

Wetzel has described the track as a lament on how partners take each other for granted. He also praised Langley’s vocal delivery, saying she brings so much care to the chorus that it “draws you in right before it stabs you in the gut.”

    Production and Release Details

Gabe Simon and Jordan Schmidt produced the song. It was released through Columbia Records as part of the continued rollout of Wetzel’s album The Night Champion, which came out in June 2026. The track blends twangy electric guitar with a steady mid-tempo rhythm, fitting both country radio and Wetzel’s rock-leaning audience. A vintage-style social media video from Wetzel hinted at 1970s country-rock and disco influences.

    How the Collaboration Came Together

    A Proven Partnership

Wetzel and Langley first worked together on “That’s Why We Fight,” which was later certified Gold by the RIAA and appeared on Langley’s Excuse the Mess EP. They have known each other since early in their careers. Langley has said that Wetzel was one of the first artists she ever collaborated with and one of the first she toured with back in 2022. Wetzel has called her “one of my favorite people to write and sing with.”

Both artists had talked about returning to the studio for years. Langley told Billboard that getting to write and record another song together “is special.”

    The Promotional Buildup

Anticipation for the single built for weeks before release. A digital billboard appeared in Nashville reading “Heartbroken? Feeling jaded? If so, call (601) 563-9895.” Fans who called the number heard a short clip of the song. Wetzel confirmed the collaboration days before release. The song went viral almost immediately after dropping, with listeners praising the vocal chemistry across social platforms and YouTube.

Where the Artists Stand in 2026

    Ella Langley’s Record-Breaking Year

Langley, born Elizabeth Camille Langley on May 3, 1999, in Hope Hull, Alabama, has become one of country music’s biggest breakout stars. She moved to Nashville in 2019 after leaving Auburn University, where she studied forestry.

Her 2024 duet with Riley Green, “You Look Like You Love Me,” reached No. 1 on Country Airplay and won Musical Event of the Year at the CMA Awards. In 2026, her success accelerated further. Her single “Choosin’ Texas” made her the first female artist to simultaneously top the Billboard Hot 100, Hot Country Songs, and Country Airplay charts. It spent 16 non-consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Hot 100, setting a record for the longest-leading chart hit for a country song by a female artist.

Her sophomore album Dandelion debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in April 2026. At the May 2026 ACM Awards, she won seven trophies, breaking the record for most wins in a single year. She was also named Billboard Women in Music’s Powerhouse honoree in 2026. She is currently headlining The Dandelion Tour, which runs through August with an all-female lineup of opening acts.

    Koe Wetzel’s Momentum

Wetzel has built a reputation for raw, genre-blending country that leans into rock energy. His 2024 collaboration with Jessie Murph, “High Road,” reached No. 1 on Billboard‘s Country Airplay chart. He released The Night Champion in June 2026 and is currently on The Night Champion World Tour. He told Rolling Stone that his songwriting remains “brutally honest” and that the album embodied “the wild, crazy, says-whatever type of guy I’ve been.”

    How to Listen

“Jaded” is available on Spotify, Apple Music, and all major streaming platforms. The song is also being promoted at country radio. As of early August 2026, no chart data has been widely reported for the single.
